Tony Martens is a successful businessman and is a Director of four businesses, including a global company.
Tony is an Indigenous Australian who was born, raised and currently lives in Cairns, Queensland, Australia.
Tony’s dream to become an entrepreneur started from humble beginnings in his regional hometown of Cairns. As a child, Tony watched his father work hard as a Boilermaker/Welder and when he commenced high school he knew that he was destined to enter an apprenticeship at the completion of school. Tony’s commencement of his chosen apprenticeship as an Automotive Electrician came earlier than anticipated as he left school before the end of his senior high schooling as the apprenticeship was on offer through a small local business. Like his father, Tony worked hard during his apprenticeship and served his four-year term to become a qualified tradesman. Whilst working as a tradesman, Tony made the decision to move to Townsville, North Queensland to study Education at the James Cook University. After four years of study, Tony graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree. With the combination of his trade and his Education Degree, Tony soon found himself working in the Adult Education field. Tony worked as a TAFE teacher, taught prison inmates in Correctional Centres and commenced a twenty-five-year career as a Public Servant across the Queensland and the Australian Governments.
Whilst the public service equipped Tony with a range of knowledge, skills and expertise, Tony always had the desire to start his own business and put his entrepreneurial flair to use. Tony commenced his journey as an entrepreneur in 2013 and commenced Australian Training Works (ATW), a Group Training Organisation which places and employs Apprentices and Trainees across all industry sectors. From here, Tony has quickly gone on to become his three other businesses and is looking to establish further businesses.
